The French club’s interest in Hojlund dates back to early July, with talks with Atalanta being open for the last few weeks. However, Atalanta has always held out for a higher fee than proposed, seeking at least £60 million, with potential add-ons.

Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed PSG’s latest move, stating, “Paris Saint-Germain have submitted a £42 million bid for Rasmus Højlund.” But, Atalanta’s valuation of the 20-year-old has consistently hovered around the £60 million mark, showcasing the Italian club’s determination to secure this substantial fee for their young star.

Despite Manchester United seemingly being ahead in the race, already securing an agreement on personal terms, Les Parisiens are in the race for the Danish striker. It has been reported by Fabrice Hawkins that the French side have also agreed a deal in principle on personal terms.
However, many in France may still be concerned as Di Marzio confirmed recently that the player has “given priority” to the Manchester side. The Red Devils made a bid of £51 million, presenting a more enticing financial package than PSG’s offer but both appear to be too low for Atalanta to accept at this point.
Atalanta Refuse to Come Down on Set Price
David Ornstein shed further light on the situation, revealing that the Ligue 1 winners remain “ready to walk away” from negotiations if Atalanta do not accept their bid. The French club perceives their valuation as unrealistic, potentially leading to a standoff between the two clubs.
In the meantime, discussions on personal terms between PSG and Hojlund have been reportedly “positive” perhaps suggesting the door is still open for a move to the Parisian giants. Depending on how their transfer window plays out we could see their interest heat up over time.

Manchester United’s pursuit of the striker has continued to be persistent and effective despite this interest, positioning the Red Devils as the frontrunners for his signature.
Hojlund Wants United
The player’s reported preference for a move to Old Trafford further bolsters United’s advantage in this transfer race.
Atalanta’s unwavering stance on their valuation sets the stage for an intriguing standoff, with PSG’s determination to land the striker and their financial might pitted against the player preference of a move to England.
Whatever happens, both teams will be eager to get a deal done to pick up a first-choice striker. As things stand, the English side may be the more desperate of the two to get a deal over the line given their goalscoring struggles in the latest campaign. It may ultimately come down to which of the two parties is first to meet the evaluation set by his parent club.
