Chelsea are set to miss out on the signing of Leicester City man James Maddison as the London side are prioritising other signings.
Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard issued an update on the future of the 26-year-old and noted that the Blues are “admirers” of the player. Despite that, the club are reportedly prioritising a striker, goalkeeper, and defensive midfielder this summer.

The former Norwich City man has proven to be an attacking spark in the Premier League. He has scored 22 league goals over the past two campaigns and supplied 17 assists in that time.
Other Priorities
Despite the talent available, the Blues are not currently looking to enter the race for the attacking midfielder. Despite their goalscoring woes, the former two-time Champions League winners aren’t short of creativity in midfield, they even boasted the eighth-highest xG in the entire competition last term.

New manager Mauricio Pochettino will no doubt be hoping that a new striker can be the one to tie everything together and get his side scoring again. Behind that, the club are aiming to shore up the gaps in their defensive shape with a top goalkeeper and a partner for Enzo Fernandez likely on the agenda.
That leaves little room for a player as talented as Maddison, despite the attacking ability he would bring the side needs a goalscorer and defensive reinforcements, meaning they are likely to miss out on him altogether.
