How Tottenham Hotspur Have Lined-Up Recently
Ever since Antonio Conte was sacked after his astonishing rant against the Spurs players following their 3-3 draw against Southampton in March, Cristian Stellini has taken over. However, he hasn’t really changed the shape of the Lilywhites – who don’t really have a variety of options to choose from.

Hugo Lloris is back from a nasty injury and the backline still possesses unpredictable defenders like Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Clement Lenglet. January signing Pedro Porro has impressed in the right wing-back role – while the attacking trio of Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Dejan Kulusevski – who have scored 30 goals in total this season – are almost undroppable.
Tottenham Hotspur Recent Form and Tactics
Spurs are winless in their last two Premier League games and have only won one out of their last five matches in all competitions. But they’re still in the top-4 race and need to start getting back to winning ways to keep their Champions League dreams alive.

Stellini has only tweaked the 3-4-3 system which the Lilywhites played in under Conte. That involves bringing Ivan Perisic and Dejan Kulusevski back to add more creativity, with the two causing major issues with their amazing crossing ability. The London side rely on patient build-up play to create attacking moves and like to defend deep as a whole unit – even though the priority against Brighton at home will be to pile more bodies forward looking for goals.
Tottenham Hotspur Key Players
Captain Kane remains the defacto X-factor in Spurs’ attack. He still boasts the utmost influence and has to do a lot of work to create chances for them. That involves dropping deep to help with the build-up play, often sending his teammates through on goal with great passes, moving defenders out of positions and then also trying finishing chances.
He’ll get more help against Brighton with Son and Kulusevki also having the ability to torment defenders with their trickery and impressive final product. Perisic and Porro will probably be encouraged to make darting overlapping runs and send in quality crosses to create major chances for the Spurs forwards.
The Lilywhites also need to be defensively much better than they’ve been in recent weeks. That involves the likes of Romero and Dier needing to maintain a tight, unpenetrable backline and Lloris marshalling over them with his leadership qualities. If they are sloppy again, Brighton have enough firepower to run riot in their own yard.
Tottenham Hotspur Injuries to Consider
Rodrigo Bentancur is, of course, out for the rest of the season with a nasty knee injury. Yves Bissouma and Ben Davies also remain injured, while Richarlison won’t be fit enough for this one. Ryan Sessegnon and Emerson are both out, with Lucas Moura suspended after getting sent off in the last game.
Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup
Hugo Lloris, Pedro Porro, Eric Dier, Cristian Romero, Clement Lenglet, Ivan Perisic, Oliver Skipp, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Dejan Kulusevki, Son Heung-Min, Harry Kane
