Aaron Ramsdale has quickly become a fan favourite at Arsenal since his arrival in the summer of 2021. The goalkeeper has impressed with his performances on the pitch and is currently leading the race for the Premier League Golden Glove with 12 clean sheets in the 2022/23 season.

In a recent interview, Ramsdale expressed his desire to stay at Arsenal for the long haul. He said, “Arsenal, where I can see myself for ten, 12, 15 years — that’s the aim, to stay at the top for that amount of time. Hopefully, I’ll never have to leave and become a real sort of hero and legend at this football club.”

This statement by the shot-stopper has been well-received by the fans, who have been longing for a goalkeeper to call their own for a number of years. With the likes of Petr Cech, Bernd Leno and Emiliano Martinez all coming and going in recent seasons, the fans are excited about the prospect of having a reliable and long-term option in between the sticks.

Impressive Performances on the Pitch

The 24-year-old’s performances on the pitch have also been a major factor in his popularity among Arsenal fans. The goalkeeper has been impressive in his shot-stopping abilities, commanding in his box, and vocal in organising his defence. He has made a number of key saves that have helped the Gunners secure valuable points this season.

In addition to the clean sheets, he has a save percentage of 72.9 per cent, which is among the best in the league.  He is also adept at playing with his feet, having completed an average of 1.65 defensive actions out of the penalty area every 90 minutes. In other words, he is excellent in his role as a sweeper keeper.

If the Englishman can maintain his impressive performances and stay at Arsenal for a number of years, he has the potential to become a fan favourite and a club legend. The Gunners have a proud history of producing and developing players who go on to become legends at the club, such as Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, and Tony Adams.

His comments about wanting to stay at Arsenal for a long time have certainly endeared him to the fans, and if he can continue to perform at a high level, he could cement his place in Arsenal’s history.
