Manchester United are one of the primary contenders to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham in the summer transfer window, confirms The Athletic’s David Ornstein. The 19-year-old midfielder is likely to attract a major transfer war in the summer after excelling for club and country this season.
Manchester United Among Primary Contenders for Jude Bellingham Signing
United Creep Into Jude Bellingham Transfer Race
After selling Erling Haaland to Manchester City last year, Dortmund are under massive pressure in their quest to keep Jude Bellingham and are aware that they might have to let him go due to the level of popularity he’s attracted.
However, Ornstein adds that the Bundesliga club will be asking for around £132 million to let him go – making him their record sale in the process. Not many European clubs can even afford to spend that much on one single player, but United are regarded as one who can do it.

With that being said, the Red Devils are only likely to strongly contest for Bellingham’s transfer if their takeover is completed before the summer. If they are taken over by the Qatari contingency or Sir Jim Ratcliffe, then United should not be ruled out as a strong contender to sign the young English midfielder – claims Ornstein.
United Likely to Face Stiff Competition for Bellingham Signing
Even if they do have the finances to get a deal done, the Manchester giants are set to face stiff competition for the signing of Jude Bellingham. Ornstein also states that Liverpool have him as their number one target for the summer window, with the English midfielder also claiming to be a huge fan of the Reds as well as their manager Jurgen Klopp – who hailed him as an ‘exceptional’ midfielder this season.

Manchester City are also ‘definitely interested’ in signing Bellingham and would not have a problem funding major money for his signing despite ongoing investigations over their financial breaches, adds Ornstein. It is also stated that Real Madrid are also in the race to sign him, but are unlikely to spend that big a figure on one signing.
Jude Bellingham is attracting so much attention for good reason. He’s already Borussia Dortmund’s captain at the age of 19 and is leading from the front this season. He’s scored ten goals and provided six assists in just 29 appearances this season, after having also scored a goal and provided an assist for England at the World Cup.
