A Deal That Benefits All

This is a deal that should benefit all concerned. Sunderland were in need of a new striker having only Ross Stewart and Leeds United want the player to gain regular and valuable first-team experience. Sunderland’s reputation for developing young players will have also appealed to both Leeds and Gelhardt.

With the Black Cats battling in the top half of the Championship and just three points from third position, 20-year-old Gelhardt could benefit immensely from the experience of pushing for the playoffs, Sunderland’s attacking style of play and performing in front of 40,000 fans on a regular basis.
