Arsenal Current Run of Form
The Gunners are the in-form side of the Premier League, having won an impressive five out of their last five fixtures in the competition. It is a run that has highlighted their progress, with several of those games being potential banana skins for the North London club.
First, there was their 1-0 victory away to Chelsea, a place Arsenal have struggled in years gone by. This was accompanied by a win against West Ham United, after going a goal down as well, as away victories against both Wolves and Brighton & Hove Albion. The Gunners’ fine start to the season has prompted rival manager Pep Guardiola to proclaim that: “Arsenal is back.”

However, that does not mean that this will be an easy game for the Gunners, far from it in fact. Newcastle are having a fantastic season themselves, and the Magpies have won four of their last five fixtures in the Premier League – drawing just one.
Their standout result came against Chelsea in a 1-0 home statement victory that demonstrated their ability to mix it with the biggest clubs in the league. They then thrashed Leicester City 3-0 on Boxing Day, and although it was followed by a 0-0 draw against Leeds United, Eddie Howe’s side were unlucky to not get the win and played very well in that match too.
Recent Head to Head
In recent times, Arsenal have faired well against Newcastle in the Premier League, winning three of the last four meetings between the two sides. However, their most recent encounter ended in disaster for the Gunners.
After losing away to Tottenham Hotspur the game before, Mikel Arteta’s side needed three points against the Magpies to keep their dream of Champions League football in their own hands. But, a Ben White own goal and a strike from midfielder Bruno Guimaraes condemned the Gunners to a painful 2-0 defeat and allowed Spurs to pip them to a fourth-placed finish.

Arsenal vs Newcastle Prediction
This will not be an easy game for Arsenal – Newcastle are a very good side and will want to prove that to the rest of the league once again. However, the Gunners are purring right now, and despite their summer signing Gabriel Jesus suffering an injury blow at the World Cup, have picked up right where they left off in November. We, therefore, expect Arsenal to get the job done and secure a narrow victory, especially with the home crowd behind them.
