Recently, there have been several reports suggesting that AC Milan were in talks with Chelsea for Trevoh Chalobah, a player who has previously been described as the “future of this club” by Chelsea teammate Thiago Silva.
However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed this is not the case, saying: “AC Milan signed Malick Thiaw in the summer transfer window so they are no longer looking for a new centre-back in January.
“Despite rumours, there were no talks about Chalobah between Milan and Chelsea this week.”
AC Milan Not in Talks for Trevoh Chalobah

Chalobah’s Rise at Chelsea
Under Thomas Tuchel, Chalobah enjoyed a very successful start to his Chelsea career. In the defender’s first senior appearance for the club, Chelsea lifted the European Super Cup, which was followed up with a wonder strike on his Premier League debut for Chelsea, in a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Tuchel’s preferred three-at-the-back system meant that Chalobah was able to secure a consistent starting spot in the side. A solid defender and comfortable on the ball, Chalobah was a breath of fresh air in what was an otherwise ageing Chelsea back three.

Increased Competition for Places
However, the arrival of Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly in the summer transfer window has seen the Englishman’s game time limited so far in the 2022/23 campaign, and the departure of Tuchel, as well as the subsequent arrival of Graham Potter, means that the Chalobah has to prove himself all over again.
However, with Chelsea enduring a slow start to the season, and the recent injury suffered by Fofana, the defender may get his chance in the coming weeks to show Potter he has what it takes to be a regular starting centre-back for a club of Chelsea’s stature.
Trevoh Chalobah is a player with huge potential, and Chelsea fans will be happy to know that, for now at least, there is no sign of him departing for another club.
