Depay Opens up on What Happened in Summer Transfer Window.

He told ESPN: “In the summer, other clubs came and then you just look at your options so I decided to fight for my chance at Barcelona.
“I love competition and I don’t walk away from it. I enjoy being at Barça.” Despite being the club’s joint-highest goalscorer last season, Depay has been reduced to the role of a squad player in Xavi Hernandez’s squad this season – making just two starts in La Liga in the first six games of the new campaign.
Depay Opted to Stay at Barcelona Despite Interest From Multiple Clubs
The 28-year-old was given the freedom to leave the Camp Nou in the summer after the club made it clear that he wouldn’t be a regular starter after the arrival of Lewandowski and Raphinha. Several European sides tried to pounce on his uncertain situation by making a ploy for him throughout the summer transfer window.
Serie A giants Juventus tried to sign him as a free agent, but the deal just didn’t work out for all parties. Chelsea even tried a last-minute move for the Dutch winger but Depay himself rejected a late offer from the Premier League side.
