Following the death of the Queen on Thursday, all clubs in England saw their matches postponed as a mark of respect. Oxford United were due to face Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.
Elsewhere this week, one of Oxford’s young goalkeepers has been sent out on loan and a summer signing could be set for an international call up.

Young U’s Goalkeeper Joins North Leigh
One of Oxford’s young goalkeepers, Eddie Brearey, has joined North Leigh on a one-month loan deal.
The first-year professional will join former U’s defender Eddie Odhiambo’s MIllers for a short spell.
Brearey is the third young goalkeeper to go out on loan, with Kie Plumley currently at Bowers & Pitsea and second-year scholar Fraser Barnsley at Evesham.
Speaking to the club’s official website, goalkeeping coach Wayne Brown said: “They are all excellent young goalkeepers and push each other in training all the time.
“There is nothing quite like playing regular competitive senior football so these loans are hopefully going to help them develop as well as helping the teams they are at.”
Jones Set for Malta Selection
Oxford winger Jodi Jones is set to be called up by Malta for their September internationals, according to the Oxford Mail.
The 24-year-old, who is eligible for citizenship through his father, would miss Oxford’s clash against Fleetwood on September 24.
The Maltese Football Association has applied to award the winger a passport and the process is expected to be completed this month.
Jones has made just one start and two substitute appearances this season following his arrival in the summer.
Shrewsbury Match Postponed
As was the case across the Football League, Oxford’s match at Shrewsbury Town was postponed as a mark of respect following the death of the Queen.
EFL bosses decided after meeting the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and other sports organisations on Friday morning.
A statement read: “Further to discussions on Friday morning it has been determined that all EFL fixtures from 9-10 September will be postponed as a mark of respect by the national sport to the passing of HRH Queen Elizabeth II.
“This is aligned with the approach that the Premier League and the FA will take with their competitions this weekend.
“Further information, in respect of how football, clubs and their supporters will commemorate Her Majesty’s reign will be confirmed at an appropriate point.
“Details regarding rearranged games will be announced in due course.”
