Thomas Tuchel’s Side Outbid Manchester City for Cucurella
The London giants have agreed a fee of around £52.5 million to sign the Spanish left-back ahead of the start of the new Premier League season. That is a fee which the Citizens were unwilling to pay after reportedly having their own bid of £30 millino rejected by the Seagulls.
Chelsea have already agreed on personal terms with the 24-year-old defender and he will become the Blues’ fifth signing of the summer. There is just no way for City to get back and sign him anymore. Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel’s side have also agreed to sell talented defender Levi Colwill to Brighton in a separate move as a way of sweetening the deal.

Cucurella was one of the Premier League’s most promising full-backs last season, putting in some bright performances for Graham Potter’s side. He played both as a left-back as well as a left-winger, scoring his first league goal in the 4-0 thrashing of Manchester United. The ex-Barcelona player’s hard-working style and attacking prowess are reasons why the Blues pushed for his signing.
Been told Marc Cucurella will sign contract valid until June 2028, six year deal as new Chelsea player. Personal terms were agreed since Monday morning. 🚨🔵 #CFC

Chelsea’s Summer Transfer Window So Far
Since taking over the club earlier this summer, new Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has been working hard to strengthen the first-team squad. So far, the London giants have signed Raheem Sterling from Manchester City for around £50 milllion in order to strengthen Tuchel’s attacking line.
They have also roped in Kalidou Koulbaily from Napoli for £34 million as the replacement of the departed Antonio Rudiger, who joined Real Madrid as a free agent. The Blues have also bought some talents for the future, including American goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina as well as confirming an agreement with Aston Villa for the signing of young midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.

Cucurella will become their fifth summer acquisition and help add more depth to the squad as well. He is likely to be a direct replacement for Marcos Alonso, who might be leaving to join Barcelona before the end of the transfer window.
