Throughout this summer window, Chelsea have shown a readiness to adapt and move quickly when deals break down. A failure to secure Raphinha saw them pick up Raheem Sterling and Bayern Munich swooping in for Matthijs de Ligt forced them into a move for Kalidou Koulibaly. Based on a new report from Nizaar Kinsella, we may be about to see the club pivot once again, this time for Denzel Dumfries.
Kinsella’s report for the Evening Standard mentioned that the Blues are now linked with a move for the Inter Milan defender. The report also mentions an interest in Milan Skriniar but it is unlikely the Serie A side will part with both players.
Chelsea have moved onto Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries after missing out on Jules Kounde.
Milan Skriniar, valued at £59m, is another defender interesting the Blues.

Chelsea Move on From Jules Kounde With Denzel Dumfries Their New Target
In Need of Signings
As stated in the Standard’s report, Barcelona are the new favourites to sign Jules Kounde, which puts Thomas Tuchel’s side in an awkward position. They still need to fill out their defence and add some depth at the wing-back spots, which is where the highly-rated Dutchman comes in.

With Marcos Alonso linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, the club needs added bodies in the wing-back spot as only Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Emerson Palmieri would be left should the Spaniard leave.

A Strong Signing
The 26-year-old would be an impressive signing that would offer some more flexibility to Tuchel. Dumfries and James could battle it out for the right wing-back spot or the versatile James could be moved into a back-three, should the team not bring in any more first-team ready centre-backs.

Dumfries previously impressed in the Dutch league with PSV Eindhoven. In his best season, he made 40 appearances and scored eight goals, before making the move to Italy where he impressed for the capital club and scored five goals despite operating as a defender.
