Lo Celso Joins Bryan Gil and Tanguy Ndombele in Loan Exits
Lo Celso has left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and joins the La Liga side on a loan deal until the end of the current season. He joins Bryan Gil and Tanguy Ndombele in leaving North London on loan in the January window.
The diminutive Argentinian joined Tottenham on loan from Real Betis in 2019 before the move was made permanent the following summer with the player signing a five year deal. He has not made the impact that was expected of him as well as struggling with a number of injuries that have seen him in and out of the squad.
He has made 84 appearances for Spurs in all competitions in which has scored eight goals and registered six assists.
Lo Celso will join up with the former Arsenal manager Emery as Villarreal look to try and secure a place in Europe for next season. They currently sit seventh in La Liga and are two points from a Europa League place behind Real Sociedad.
Tottenham’s January Signings
Tottenham had been quiet through the transfer window but burst into life on deadline day confirming two signings from Fabio Paratici’s former club Juventus. Midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has signed a permanent deal whilst team mate Dejan Kulusevski has signed on loan with an option to buy.
Tottenham released an official statement confirming the loan move for Lo Celso via Twitter and their official website. Villarreal have also confirmed the move via their website. It has not yet been confirmed if there will be an option to buy at the end of the loan term.
