According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is in Barcelona and ready to join Spanish giants on a loan deal. Romano states that he has a full agreement with Barça for a loan move and the deal is all but complete on the player’s side. The only potential stumbling block is Barcelona’s dependency on outgoings to complete the deal.
Arsenal Striker Aubameyang Set to Join Barcelona
Out in the Cold
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang went from Arsenal captain to completely ostracised from manager Mikel Arteta’s plans in the space of a month. The straw that broke the camel’s back appears to be the club’s decision to leave the Gabon forward out of the squad for their mid-season trip to Dubai. According to Romano, Arsenal have already approved of the loan move and are ready to wash their hands of the player, even if they’re set to miss out on Alvaro Morata.
What Aubameyang Offers Barcelona?
With Sergio Aguero’s unfortunate retirement and Ousmane Dembele on the outs with the team, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will strengthen the attacking lineup at Barcelona. While he is no longer in Arsenal’s plans the veteran has an eye for goal with seven goals to his name in 15 games this season. We have also seen him succeed tremendously outside of the Premier League in the past as he notably scored 141 goals in 213 games for Borussia Dortmund, 98 of which came in the Bundesliga.
Barcelona completing the deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will require them to offload some players, it is likely that the side are pushing to complete a deal for Ousmane Dembele to leave so they can acquire Aubameyang who is already set on the move. Whether Barcelona can get that to happen or not remains to be seen but it will be a story to keep eyes on as transfer deadline day progresses.
