New Everton manager Frank Lampard has not wasted any time in improving his squad with the loan signing of Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek. Fabrizio Romano has reported that the deal is all but done leaving Crystal Palace frustrated as their interest in the player was shunned at the eleventh hour.

Lampard Makes Quick Signing

Crystal Palace and Valencia had both been interested in signing the frustrated player who has never found his feet at Old Trafford under either Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Ralf Rangnick. However, it is Everton who have made a late swoop for Donny van de Beek and Merseyside is the choice that he has made.

Finances of the Deal

The players’ wages will be paid in full by Everton but there will be no option to buy the player on a permanent transfer at the end of the loan period.

Palace had started to have talks with Van de Beek after Dennis Bergkamp had alerted his former Arsenal teammate and Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira to the players’ availability. Bergkamp is the father of Van de Beek’s partner and triggered the Palace move but they have now missed out, much to the frustration of the London club.

Peripheral Player for United

Van de Beek has been a bit-part player at United since he joined in the summer of 2020. Although his debut for the club involved a goal, he has never gained the trust of the United managers he has played under for one reason or another.

The Dutchman has three and a half years left on his Old Trafford contract which is why no option to buy has been included but the player is now hoping he can set the Premier League alight in the final months of the season and show just what he can do when given the chance to shine.
