Crisis hit Midlands club Derby County have finally had a takeover bid submitted which could save them from liquidation and the all too real prospect of being put out of business and a huge name in English football being made extinct.

Derby County have faced sanctions that has seen them barred from making transfers, having to move on players they wanted to keep and have 21 points deducted – leaving them cut adrift at the bottom of the Championship. Now, there could be better news for the Derby fans as The Binnie family from New England in the United States have submitted an official bid that BBC Sport report to be around £28 million.

English Football League Demands

The EFL have continually demanded to know how Derby will be funded for the remainder of the 2021/22 season which has left the administrators scratching around to find a way to save the club. Quantuma are the administrators and have also been faced with fighting off compensation claims from Wycombe Wanderers and Middlesbrough, making any takeover a complex affair.

Others already said to have been interested in Derby have been former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley and Texan businessman Chris Kirchner, but with the deal becoming more and more complex he pulled out of his proposed takeover in December 2021.

Adam Binnie

Adam Binnie is the vice president of investment company Carlisle Capital and is believed to be the man in charge of the bid. He is said to be aware of the claims being made by the two EFL clubs and that will not affect the bid, news that will be a huge relief t0 fans of the club hoping that their beloved Derby County can at least be saved.

The latest news will be a boost to manager Wayne Rooney, who has worked miracles to take Derby within just eight points of Championship safety and could finally start to bring about the end of uncertainty and ensure one the English football leagues founding members survive.
