Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 Gameweek 13: Fixtures to Target
Arsenal v Newcastle United
Newcastle United were much more attacking under new management last week as they played out a thrilling 3-3 draw against Brentford. The Magpies had an astonishing 23 shots in that game.
On the other hand, Arsenal were thrashed by Liverpool last week, ending their ten-match unbeaten run. The Gunners will hope to bounce back with a win in this game. Encouragingly for them, they have a great record against Newcastle with six wins in a row in the Premier League. Emile Smith Rowe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could do well this week. However, also consider Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin.
Liverpool v Southampton
Liverpool should get a comfortable win here although remember Southampton‘s draw at Manchester City earlier in the season. The Reds have won the last four home games against the Saints with 12 unanswered goals as well. So, overall, FPL managers will expect big returns from Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Diogo Jota should start and he could do very well.
Brentford v Everton
Everton are without a win in six, having conceded 12 goals in those matches. Their horrible luck with injuries continued with Demarai Gray added to the list last week. In addition, Richarlison is also suspended for this game. It is quite unbelievable how many players are unavailable for the Toffees. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Yerry Mina, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Andre Gomes, Mason Holgate and Tom Davies will all probably miss this game as well, with only Mina a possible returnee this week. Brentford will fancy getting the three points although they are also in poor form with just one point from the last five games. Bryan Mbeumo hit the post once again last week and his long-suffering FPL owners will hope for a goal in this one. Ivan Toney scored against Newcastle and will be hoping for more this time around.
Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 Gameweek 13: Things to Consider
Chelsea have been brilliant this season and are sitting pretty at the top of the table. They take on Manchester United in a match the Blues will be expected to win at home. However, consider a few things before going crazy over bringing in Chelsea assets.
First of all, there is a possibility of Manchester United players turning up with their best performances for this big game. Secondly, the absence of Ben Chilwell and N’Golo Kante will definitely hurt Chelsea’s overall play. Finally, both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner are now fit. How will that change their starting lineup? Having said all that, Reece James has been quite superb of late so bringing him in wouldn’t be a bad choice.
There are some interesting games to watch out for this week. Leicester City are struggling and Watford might target a win there. The Watford front three could enjoy playing against a shaky-looking Leicester defence. However, there is the potential for the Foxes to return to form with easier fixtures on the horizon. In-form Crystal Palace will hope to continue their good run with a good result against Aston Villa. How will Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur do up at Turf Moor? Will West Ham United suffer back-to-back losses at the Etihad?
Replacements for Ben Chilwell
Reports suggest that Ben Chilwell is set for a lengthy layoff. There are fears that he might even miss the rest of the season. Currently, 18.7 per cent of FPL managers own him and will need a replacement. Marcos Alonso should start in his place for Chelsea. He was in good form earlier in the season but is a different type of player. Chilwell was in sublime form and his absence will be a huge miss for the Blues.
For FPL managers, there are a few options to replace him with. Those without Reece James could directly get him in. Marcos Alonso is also a decent option. We know how attacking he is. Sergio Reguilón is a great option at 1.0 unit cheaper. He is playing a very attacking role under Conte. João Cancelo is also a great option if you have spare units in the bank. However, Trent Alexander-Arnold is the one to get if one already doesn’t have him.
