According to Fabrizio Romano, Andre Onana has reached a verbal agreement with Inter Milan, and has had that in place since last July, but a contract has not been signed at this stage:
Inter have reached a verbal agreement with André Onana since last July. He’s ready to join as free agent in 2022. Contract NOT signed yet but at final stages. That’s why OL and Nice talks collapsed. 🔵🇨🇲 #Inter

Andre Onana Inter Milan Move Verbally Agreed
Former Arsenal Target Heading for Italian Move
Onana’s contract with Dutch side Ajax ends in the summer of 2022, meaning the player will be available on a free transfer unless the club can sell him before they come to that unwanted situation. Ajax Director of football and former Arsenal player Marc Overmars told Voetbal International that he is resigned to losing the goalkeeper despite efforts to try and seal a new deal with the player: “We tried, but it didn’t work. You make choices and then it has to come from both sides. We didn’t feel like he really wanted to. I read somewhere that we pulled the plug and that’s right. We do that for a reason.”
Doping Ban
Onana is currently not eligible to play, as he is banned for failing an anti doping test with his ban due to end on November 4, which has left the player in the situation of not being guaranteed fist team football. Overmars does not want to see players selected who no longer want to play for Ajax.
Inter Willing to Pay Small Transfer Fee for Andre Onana
The failed drugs test and subsequent suspension has seen Andre Onana’s value drop. Ajax would still want some payment for the player, however, and Inter are willing to negotiate a small fee so that they can land the player in the January 2022 transfer window.
Now that Arsenal have Aaron Ramsdale in place, their pursuit of Onana is over – leaving Inter in pole position to make their move and provide back-up for 37-year-old shot stopper, Samir Handanovic.
