Having just waved goodbye to Moussa Sissoko, who joined Watford, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba before the window slams shut, according to Alasdair Gold of Football London. They aren’t alone in their interest, however, with London rivals Chelsea also reportedly interested in making a move.
A cut-price could be a agreed, too, with Barcelona’s financial woes no secret. Moriba is among the players who failed to agree a new contract with a lower salary, leaving him a free agent next summer. Barcelona will be keen to let the youngster go this summer, though, in order to take a large chunk off their current wage bill.

Nuno Espírito Santo: Playing the Long Game
Coming into the Spurs job, Nuno Espírito Santo would have been well aware at the extent of the task at hand. It was never going to be a quick and easy fix. It is a long-term project and the summer transfer window reflects that, with Pappe Matar Sarr joining Bryan Gil and interest emerging in Ilaix Moriba.
Now that Harry Kane has confirmed his stay, too, Espírito Santo can get going with the strongest team possible. In an ideal world, he’ll add a couple more players before the window slams shut, but, for now, the current Spurs squad should do the necessary job. The main goal was to keep Kane, and they’ve done just that.
With just four days left of the summer window, any extra addition will be an unexpected bonus. As of right now, reports suggest that there is certainly interest in Moriba, but whether Spurs have enough time to get a deal over the line, remains to be seen. Given Chelsea’s interest on top of the lack of time, signing the midfielder may not be a possibility.
