According to Gianluca di Marzio, Fiorentina and owner Rocco Commisso will be making a final decision on the future of Dusan Vlahovic. Atletico Madrid are pressuring for the Serbian star.
Dusan Vlahovic Decision Coming Soon by Fiorentina
The Atletico Madrid Pursuit
Di Marzio mentions that there is in fact already a deal for Vlahovic in principle with Atletico Madrid. Atletico would be paying €50 million with an additional €10 million more in bonuses. Fiorentina would receive 20% of any future fee should Atletico sell Vlahovic.
When it comes to Vlahovic’s personal contract, it looks to be in the range of €4.5-5 million per season. Di Marzio says that Atletico are eager for a response. This, of course, makes sense with the season now in full swing.
It’s no surprise that Atletico wish to enhance their striking department. Luis Suarez is the number one option now. Although still a star and fresh off a La Lia winning season, Atletico are looking to add depth but also a future option. Suarez is 34-years-old, so his time is becoming limited.
After Suarez, Atletico aren’t necessarily rich when it comes to strikers. Joao Felix, Angel Correa, and Marcos Llorente are strong attacking options, but not strikers. The team still has Ivan Saponjic, but he’s unproven and unlikely to be a solution.
Vlahovic, on the other hand, is an up-and-coming star. Last season, he scored 21 goals and provided two assists in 37 league matches. Fiorentina were disappointing, but Vlahovic stood above the pack as the best player by a mile. He’s also just 21-years-old, so he hasn’t fully reached his peak yet. If Atletico Madrid are looking to strengthen their La Liga and Champions League odds this season, while simultaneously building for the future, then Vlahovic is the route to take. It’s no surprise they’re pushing for him.
