According to reports, Sergino Dest was being eyed up by Arsenal in their hunt for a new right-back. The fullback, however, has shown no desire to leave the Nou Camp this summer, according to Football London.
Arsenal Moved Turned Down by Sergino Dest
No Deal for Dest
Arsenal have suffered a blow in the transfer market with the news that the Barcelona defender has rejected a move to the Emirates. The Gunners are on the look out for a new look defence with wholesale changes set to be made this summer. And the club set their sights on Dest to replace the outgoing Hector Bellerin.
Football London have confirmed, however, that the defender has made it crystal clear he intends to stay in Barcelona and fight for his place in La Liga. This is given that the club signed the Brazilian international and former Real Betis right-back Emerson.
The 20-year-old started his career in Netherlands with Ajax. After just one season and 35 appearances, he caught the attention of Barcelona. He signed for an initial £18 million plus an extra £4 million in variables.
The deal saw him arrive at the Nou Camp raring to go. And his debut season was a successful one. He made over 40 appearances and scored three goals. He is also now a regular for the country, making 11 appearences for America, scoring just the one goal.
Arsenal Fail in Attempt to Sign Sergino Dest
Arsenal were drawn to his variety of talents as a fullback. Dest has good positional sense both in defence and attack. He is also an accomplished defender and a fast and skilful attacker.
The North London side were hoping to unite Dest with their new look back four with another potential signing in England international Ben White from Brighton and Hove Albion in a deal worth £50 million.
