Brentford transfer news is picking up with every week as the Bees look to enter their first season in the Premier League stronger than ever. The main goal this summer would have been to keep hold of goal machine Ivan Toney and, so far, they can happily tick that box. Meanwhile, as for incomings, the main goal seems to be strengthening the backline with Kristoffer Ajer set to come in for a record fee.
According to John Percy of the Telegraph, the Celtic defender is closing in on a move worth up to £13.5 million in what will be a record deal for Brentford. Ajer has enjoyed five years in Scotland, where he has won three Scottish Premierships, two Scottish Cups and two Scottish League Cups. In total, his silverware count tallies to a staggering seven trophies won. Brentford are getting themselves a serial winner who is just 23-years of age.
Meanwhile, according to Paul Taylor of the Athletic, a £3.5 million bid has been made for Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson. The 20-year-old impressed many whilst on-loan from Lincoln City last season, where he scored 13 goals and assisted a further 14.

Johnson Bid Below Valuation
As previously mentioned, Brentford have reportedly lodged a bid of £3.5 million for Forest winger Brennan Johnson. According to Paul Taylor, however, that bid is short of Forest’s valuation of the youngster. The Bees will have to act quickly if they want to secure his services, too, with Leeds United, Barnsley and Leicester City all believed to be interested
Johnson will certainly have a decision to make this summer should the right offer come in. He could stay within the comforts of Nottingham Forest or take the leap up to the Premier League. Only time will tell whether the youngster does make the move this summer.
