Bournemouth have rejected an offer of €15 million from Europa League winners Villarreal for Arnaut Danjuma, according to Mark McAdam.
Bournemouth Reject €15 Million Offer for Arnaut Danjuma
Fantastic Talent in the Championship
Danjuma has shown that he is a fantastic talent over the past season, Bournemouth’s first in the Championship for over five years.
The Cherries were agonisingly relegated from the Premier League on the final day of the 2019/20 season. Their win against Everton was not enough to earn survival for another year in the top flight after their fantastic journey up the English footballing ladder.
The past campaign saw Bournemouth suffer yet again. Having been top of the table at Christmas, Jason Tindall‘s side went on a horrific run that resulted in him being sacked. Jonathan Woodgate then took over in a temporary capacity until the end of the season, and while he exceeded expectations by taking the South Coast side to the playoffs, they were unable to surpass Brentford, who went on to achieve promotion.
One positive that can be taken from the campaign, though, is the emergence of Arnaut Danjuma. The Dutchman moved to Dean Court in the summer of 2019, but was unable to cement a consistent place in the starting team straight away with the likes of Ryan Fraser still at the club.
This season, though, with many key attackers having been sold, Danjuma was handed the perfect opportunity to step up, and step up he most certainly did. The 24-year-old was good at the start of the season, but really kicked on in its later part, with 13 direct goal involvements in his last 11 league appearances. Danjuma also scored both of Bournemouth’s goals in the Championship playoffs.
These impressive performances have attracted attention from all over Europe. Many teams in the Premier League are said to be considering a move for the attacker, with clubs further afield like Wolfsburg in Germany also interested. Villarreal are another of the more exotic options available to Danjuma, and the prospect of Champions League football will be sure to intrigue the Bournemouth fan favourite.
