Quick Tips
Manchester United, Chelsea, Leicester City and Arsenal do not have a Premier League match this weekend. Probably the right thing to do would be to look at the remaining fixtures for each team and make transfers accordingly. Liverpool, Leeds United, Everton, West Ham United, Burnley and Southampton seem to have the best fixtures. However, every team will have to play three times in around a week from now whereas Liverpool will play four times in ten days. So, there might yet be some rotation. Excitingly, fans are returning to the stadiums for the next round of fixtures.
Goalkeepers
Emiliano Martínez has not kept a clean sheet for a long time. The Argentine has a reasonable chance to keep one this week against Crystal Palace. It is probably not worthwhile to change the keeper this late in the season. The remaining games might see plenty of goals being scored so it is better to stick with the keeper.
Fraser Forster and Jordan Pickford could be considered this week. For the last three matches, Ilan Meslier is probably the best shout.
Defenders
Trent Alexander-Arnold could get a good score at already-relegated West Bromwich Albion. However, Liverpool’s tight schedule could see fatigue creeping in and might hamper their overall performance.
Those looking for a cheap defender, Tyrick Mitchell could provide a decent option. He seems set to start the remaining matches with Patrick van Aanholt out of contract in the summer.
Lucas Digne is a very good choice this week against rock bottom Sheffield United. A clean sheet looks likely and he could get involved with the attacking play as well.
For the remaining three matches, Stuart Dallas and Vladimir Coufal are solid options. Coufal has become a very important part of the West Ham attacking play off late. Dallas on the other hand has done well all season although his big scores have often come when FPL managers have benched him.
Kyle Walker-Peters is also a decent option this week.
Midfielders
Despite scoring 20 goals this season, it still feels as if Mohamed Salah has had a poor season. However, the Egyptian has scored three goals in the last five matches and is just a goal away from the top scorer Harry Kane. Salah would love to win the golden boot for the third time.
Liverpool are still fighting for a top-four finish this season and Salah’s goals will be very much needed. He should fancy himself against an already-relegated West Brom side this week. Sadio Mané had a good game against Southampton last week. He could be very crucial as well.
Gareth Bale and Son Heung-min are definitely good choices this week. Bale has done well at home against lower-ranked sides recently with four goals in his last two home games. Under Ryan Mason, Bale seems to be a sure starter although he is unlikely to play the full 90 minutes. Son is always a threat and one can never ignore him.
Riyad Mahrez has had a very good season although his most impressive performances have come in the Champions League. The Algerian should start this week after getting a rest last time around. The fixture is quite promising for Manchester City and they might turn it on to celebrate their title win.
After a blistering start as a West Ham player, Jesse Lingard has had three blanks in a row. The Hammers need him to fire this week at the Amex stadium. Brighton’s possession-based play could suit West Ham’s attacking threat from the counters.
Raphinha, Phil Foden and Diogo Jota are also worth considering this week.
Strikers
Danny Ings made a successful return from injury as he scored a brace against Crystal Palace on Tuesday. This week’s opponents Fulham have already been relegated and have nothing to play for. So, it looks promising for the Saints although one has to wonder whether Ings is fit enough to start each of the remaining three matches.
The defeat to Everton last week was a massive blow to West Ham United’s top-four ambitions. However, Arsenal’s win against Chelsea should give them hope. The Hammers will look to Michail Antonio for the goals. Opponents Brighton & Hove Albion have nothing left to play for and will be without Lewis Dunk and Neil Maupay. However, it is unlikely that the Seagulls will make things easy.
Patrick Bamford has three good-looking fixtures coming up to end the season. The return of Raphinha will definitely help him.
