Quick Tips

Another week, another big injury to contend with for FPL managers. Harry Kane looks set to be out for a while. With matches coming thick and fast, these injuries are to be expected. The only way to deal with all these setbacks is to wait for as late as possible to make your transfers and also try to have two or three starters on the bench.

Goalkeepers

Alphonse Areola has a good chance of a clean sheet this week. However, FPL managers of Emiliano Martínez are likely to keep with faith with the Argentine despite a poor performance against Burnley last gameweek.

Defenders

Manchester City have not conceded a goal in their last four fixtures. João Cancelo, Rúben Dias, and John Stones are all great options. A possible triple-up of City defence looks enticing indeed.

Trent Alexander-Arnold finally produced a big score for his FPL owners on Thursday night. Can he continue in that vein? West Ham United away is not an easy fixture by any stretch of the imagination for Liverpool.

In the last two fixtures, Lucas Digne has played in midfield. He produced a brilliant cross right at the death only to see Dominic Calvert-Lewin miss a relatively easy header. Digne should get more chances to roam forward in the next two matches.

Timothy Castagne and James Justin are decent options from Leicester City as they take on Leeds United. The Leicester full-backs should get opportunities to move forward a lot and get some attacking points. However, the absence of Vardy will affect their chances.

Fulham have a good chance of keeping a clean sheet this week against struggling West Bromwich Albion. Joachim Andersen looks to be a decent option with Kenny Tete the cheapest starter available from the cottagers.

Midfielders

Manchester City host improving Sheffield United this Saturday. Can the blades get another three points in Manchester after their shock win at Old Trafford on Wednesday night? City put five past the baggies on Tuesday and FPL owners of Ilkay Gündogan and Raheem Sterling will be hoping for big points once again.

Son Heung-min has gone without a goal in the last three premier league matches. The South Korean has a decent away fixture this week against the Seagulls. This match could work out well for Tottenham Hotspur as Brighton & Hove Albion try to play out from the back in every game which leaves them vulnerable to fast counters. How will the absence of Kane affect Son though? In previous seasons, the South Korean enjoyed a lot of success in Kane’s absence. However, this season Kane has played in a slightly deeper role and provided many assists for Son. So, it will be very interesting to see how Spurs cope without the presence of their talisman.

James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and Youri Tielemans are all decent options from Leicester City.  However, the absence of Vardy remains a big problem for them.

Mohamed Salah has now gone six games without a goal or assist in the Premier League. This is simply unprecedented from the Egyptian. Salah’s record is good against the Hammers with seven goals in seven matches. This could be the match in which Salah gets back on the score sheet. Sadio Mané looks in decent form as well.

Chelsea started life under new head coach Thomas Tuchel last gameweek. Their midfielders are decent options this week against Burnley although one cannot be sure who will start as Tuchel searches for his best lineup.

Ademola Lookman is also a decent option against West Bromwich Albion.

Southampton beat Aston Villa 4-3 earlier in the season in an entertaining encounter. James Ward-Prowse scored two goals and got an assist in that game. Jack Grealish also scored one and got two assists. If this week’s matchup is even half that exciting we are in for a treat.

Strikers

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has not scored for a while. He will try to get back on track this week in a fixture he has fond memories of. In fact, Calvert-Lewin has scored five goals in his last four matches against Newcastle United. He will face Leeds United after that which also should provide him with opportunities to do well. The return of Lucas Digne and James Rodríguez should help him also. Harry Kane‘s injury means many FPL managers will need a replacement. Calvert-Lewin looks like the best option.

Michail Antonio has made a successful return to the West Ham starting 11 in recent weeks. He could be a possible replacement for Kane as well. Liverpool defenders will have trouble handling Antonio for sure. Joel Matip will miss out as well which should help Antonio.

The cheap strikers that were doing so well earlier in the season have all lost form recently. Patrick Bamford and Che Adams have not scored for a while. Ollie Watkins scored last week but is highly unreliable. Callum Wilson and Newcastle United are struggling as well. It is perhaps a good time to use the 3-5-2 formation.
