According to Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid are set to sign Lyon striker Moussa Dembele on an initial loan with an option to buy deal. The Frenchman will act as a replacement for the departing Diego Costa and will provide backup to Luis Suarez.
The news comes after various reports suggested it was Willian Jose who Atletico were considering, but, as it turns out, they have reportedly turned to Dembele instead.

The reported move should hand Dembele the opportunity to rediscover his best form. So far this season, the 24-year-old has scored just the one time in 16 Ligue 1 appearances after scoring on 24 occasions in 46 games last season.
The drop in form was an unforeseen one. Many believed the Frenchman would go on to reach greater heights this campaign instead of falling away from his best form.
Should Dembele complete the move to Atletico, he must find his goalscoring boots once more. From Simeone’s point of view, he’ll know that the talent is there; it is just about unlocking it.
If Atletico can get the best out of Dembele, they’ll undoubtedly pursue the option to buy at the end of the season.
Atletico Leading the Way
With Real Madrid and Barcelona both facing problems this season, Atletico Madrid have taken full advantage. Simeone’s side sit top of the league, one point clear, with three games in hand on second-place Real Madrid.
Simeone was the last man to dethrone the ‘El Classico’ teams in 2014, and, this season, he looks set to become the latest. With Luis Suarez reportedly set to be backed up by Dembele, too, there may be no stopping the Atletico Madrid title train.
Luis Suarez has been the star man this season, but every forward needs a classy backup. Dembele can provide that.
