Southampton have completed the loan signing of Theo Walcott on loan from Everton. The 31-year-old travelled to Southampton earlier today to have his medical. Walcott has joined the South Coast club until the end of the season with both Everton and Southampton splitting the player’s wage 50/50

Walcott Returns to St Mary’s 14 Years After Leaving
Walcott began his career at Southampton, making his debut in 2005 as a 16-year-old. He scored on his full debut, becoming the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer. His rapid rise continued with a further four goals before the end of the year. In January of 2006, Arsenal signed the teenager in a deal worth £12 million. Without making an appearance for the Gunners, Walcott famously went to the 2006 World Cup with England.
He would stay at Arsenal until January 2018 after scoring more than 100 goals and winning three FA Cups. A £20 million deal ended his time in London as he completed a move to Everton.
Not Part of Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton Plans
Walcott has played 85 games for the Toffees; however, he appears to be surplus to requirements having played just 12 minutes so for this season for Carlo Ancelotti. The former England international with 47 caps for his country is in the final year of his current deal at Goodison Park and is currently earning £100,000-a-week. A loan deal that would allow the player to play regular first-team football and for Everton to recoup at least half of his salary each week suits all.
Signing Theo Walcott would give Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl more experience in his side and more depth to the wide areas of his team. Should Walcott impress, a permanent deal to stay at St Mary’s could be possible. By the end of his loan spell, the winger will be a free agent, making a deal to sign him more appealing to Southampton or any other interested clubs.
