Latest Transfer Rumours
Real Join Fernandes Race
According to Jonathan Meaney of AS, Real Madrid have joined the race to sign Portuguese attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes. Fernandes, heavily linked with a move away to the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, remains a Sporting player; no club has met the Portuguese side’s €70 million valuation.
Fernandes scored 32 goals and created 18 more in 53 appearances last season, making him one of Europe’s most dangerous players. Reports suggest that Madrid are utilising links with Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes to try and finalise the deal. Madrid’s interest will likely make Spurs and United anxious, as both clubs were previously confident of securing a deal.
Arsenal Interested In Coutinho
Jake Polden of The Mirror claims that Arsenal have shown interest in Barcelona attacker Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian, whom Barcelona are keen to sell this summer, is on the London side’s radar, as he seeks a return to England. Arsenal aim to agree on a loan deal, with a view to a permanent move, which Barcelona are willing to agree to. The two clubs face each other in the Joan Gamper Trophy this Sunday and will discuss the move after their meeting.
Whether or not Arsenal have the funds to secure Coutinho’s signing is unclear at this stage. Barcelona may see this as their only opportunity to recoup the £142 million he cost them. Coutinho has had a torrid time with the Spanish champions, even subjected to boos from his own fans. An exit seems to be in the interest of both parties.
Snags In Juventus’ Swap Deal With City
According to Gianluca di Marzio, Juventus remain in talks with Manchester City over a swap deal including Joao Cancelo and Danilo. Cancelo reportedly earns around €5 million a year with City, which Juventus and are not willing to match. City will offer some money as well as Danilo to land the right-back they have chased all summer.
Juventus, meanwhile, are also chasing Juan Miranda, 19-year-old left-back of Barcelona, who could cost them an initial €10 million. As things stand, Juventus could be set for two swap deals before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
