Golden State Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy recently spoke about offering contract extensions to a few of their players this summer–Stephen Curry, Jonathan Kuminga, and Moses Moody. Furthermore, Dunleavy made it clear that extending Curry is a big priority for the team.
Dunleavy says he’d like to find extensions for Kuminga and Moody. As for Curry’s extension, that’s also huge a priority.
“That guy can get whatever he wants… I think that stuff will get figured out and he’ll be a Warrior for life.”

News of Dunleavy’s priorities comes less than two weeks after the team lost four-time champion Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks. Dunleavy spoke about Thompson’s departure, saying the team will “miss him.”
Speaking with reporters here in Vegas, Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy says “I can’t reiterate what an unbelievable run (Klay Thompson) had. We’ll miss him. But life goes on and I think he’s in a good spot.”

The Warriors ended the 2023-24 season with a 46-36 record. Despite this being a two-game improvement from the season prior, the team ended as the No. 10 seed and missed the playoffs.
Golden State Warriors Pursuing Extensions For 3 Players
Stephen Curry
Curry has two years remaining on his contract. This will keep him locked up through the 2025-26 season. Recently, the future Hall of Famer spoke about wanting to remain with the Warriors for the rest of his career.
“I mean, I can clearly say I want to be a Warrior for life,” Stephen Curry told Yahoo Sports in an interview Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas. “It’s always been my goal, and I’m saying that sitting in this chair right now, but like you said, life, and especially life in the NBA, it is a wild environment, and things change quickly.”
The 36-year-old has spent his entire 15-year career with the Warriors so far. In that time, he has been a four-time champion, a two-time MVP, a one-time NBA Finals MVP, and a 10-time All-NBA selection among many other accolades.
Jonathan Kuminga
Kuminga has been one of Golen State’s brightest stars since the team drafted him in 2021. With the Warriors, the 21-year-old has averaged 11.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Each year, Kuminga’s role has grown and he has gradually gotten better. It is evident the Warriors have long-term plans for Kuminga. Furthermore, the Warriors reportedly declined to include Kuminga in trade talks for Paul George, who ended up signing with the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason.
“The Warriors offered multiple combinations of expiring contracts, young players and an unprotected 2027 first-round pick, sources said. The Clippers countered by asking for prized youngster Jonathan Kuminga, sources said. The Warriors resisted because Kuminga is so important to their own future, sources said, but also because they worried George wouldn’t be as interested in joining them if they gave up too much to get him.”
Kuminga and Moody each have one year remaining on their rookie deal.
Moses Moody
Like Kuminga, the Warriors drafted Moody in the 2021 NBA Draft. Additionally, he has also seen his role grow over time. Last season, the guard averaged 8.1 points and 3 rebounds per game. Both were career highs for Moody. The 22-year-old is still young and has the potential to assume a much larger role in the near future.
