Will Steve Kerr walk away from the Warriors and coaching?

The Latest On Steve Kerr, Draymond Green, Brandin Podziemski, Quentin Post, And Al Horford Upcoming Decisions

Al Horford May Retire

Horford said yesterday that he doesn’t know whether he will return to the Warriors. Age has caught up with Horford, who will be 40 in June, though he was still productive in his 45 appearances.

Horford averaged 8.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.1 blocks in 22 minutes.  In addition, he knocked down 1.6 threes with shooting splits of 42.6/36.1/84.6.

According to Warriors Insider Nick Friedell, Horford will take a couple of weeks to decide what he will do. Friedell added that he will meet with the people close to him.

“It has to do with not rushing to anything or not let emotions or heat of the moment determine anything,” Horford told NBC Sports Monte Poole. “I’ve done this the last few years, and it’s just kind of taken time to step back and have a clear picture, look at the outlook of the team, looking at the future of the team, how things look, and also seeing kind of where I’m at and how I’m feeling.”

“Yeah, definitely that’s been on my mind,” Horford continued. “I enjoy playing and being in this position. Definitely taking all that stuff into consideration.”

Horford has appeared in 65 or fewer games in each of the last four seasons. If Horford does return, he will probably be a mentor for the Warriors’ young big men. His role will likely remain the same as a physical low-post defender and a “stretch-5”.
