Since being eliminated by the Illinois Fighting Illini on March 26, the Houston Cougars have likely been at home, watching the rest of the NCAA Tournament unfold like everybody else. If so, they were witnesses to a riveting heavyweight battle between the UConn Huskies and the Michigan Wolverines, the latter coming out on top largely due to the performance of Michigan junior transfer Elliot Cadeau. For Houston freshman point guard Kingston Flemings, seeing Cadeau lead his team to a title may have been a layered experience.
On the one hand, Flemings is an impassioned player who not only cares about winning but his team. To that point, the mere fact that the Wolverines were the ones cutting down the nets rather than the Cougars was already going to sting. Adding insult to injury is the fact that Flemings has been a higher rated prospect than Cadeau throughout the season. If Cadeau could slice and dice his way through the Huskies defense, imagine what he could do.
