It was a rough night for Oubre all around. Despite the setbacks, Oubre and the Sixers bounced back with a win in their third game, securing a 125-114 victory.
In the post-game interview, Oubre Jr. reassured everyone that he was indeed alright after the accident.
“Everything is good. I’m OK. The people that were involved were OK, but I need to probably get a driver or something and just stay off the road and behind the wheel, but everything is good. I’m good. I was still able to do my job and support my family and things are great,” he said per Sixers Wire.
Oubre Jr. featured on the night to score 15 points and added 7 rebounds in Game 3 of the 2024 First Round versus the Knicks. They’re now looking ahead to Game 4 at the Wells Fargo Center, hoping to turn the series around.
Previous Hit-and-Run Accident
However, this isn’t the first time the Sixers starter has been in a car-related incident. Last year, he was involved in a hit-and-run that left him injured and sidelined for several games.
The accident dates back to November 2023 when Oubre Jr. was walking near his home when a speeding vehicle struck him, causing injuries to his upper chest, hip, and right leg. The car, described as silver, fled the scene.
Oubre was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital with a broken rib after the accident. Despite his claims, no video evidence supported his version of events, leaving the incident unresolved.

“It’s something that happened in my life and is very detrimental to me, missing time in my job. So I’m just really blessed that it wasn’t worse than what it is, and that I’m able to come back to work, smile, walk and talk and breathe,” Oubre Jr had said in a press conference after recovering from the accident.
Now the player will be focusing on the next game to keep their hopes of advancing to the next round of the playoffs alive. For that, a win is a must against Jalen Brunson-led New York Knicks.
