The NBA trade deadline is right around the corner, and most teams will either be buyers or sellers. Some won’t do anything, and others will do a lot to either get better or even try to get worse. The Orlando Magic have had an average season by the league’s standards, as their record shows they are a near .500 team, but for the Magic, it’s been a better year than they are used to.

Magic G Markelle Fultz Keeps it Real While Discussing Trade Deadline

Depending on how the front office feels about their squad, they could very well be buyers or sellers at the deadline. They are currently eighth in the Eastern Conference at 27-24 and were just seventh before a loss to the Miami Heat, who overtook them in the standings. Considering the Magoc are just three wins away from being a top-five seed, it may be safe to assume they would be buyers at this deadline.

That still means they could move some players to get better players. One guy on many people’s minds is Markelle Fultz. The Magic guard is formerly a No. 1 pick in the NBA draft. The Magic have a log jam at the guard spots with the emergence of rookie Anthony Black.

Now, there isn’t any rumor or report yet stating he is a candidate for that to happen. However, based on what we know, he could see himself in new threads after Thursday. That scenario isn’t something we shouldn’t rule out. Fultz isn’t worried about it, though.

Markell Fultz’s Thoughts on Deadline

“Hell no,” Fultz said when asked if the trade deadline worried him. “I ain’t worried about that, man. I’ve been through so much in this league. I just focus on the controllable, you know, and while I’m here, I’m fully invested in whatever happens. But, you know, I stay in the moment, I control that control, and I go out there and compete.”

Fultz is still a good player despite everything that has happened in his career. There is a reason he was picked No. 1 overall, even if he likely shouldn’t have been. Despite hitting his first three-pointer of the season against the Heat, he can do many things on the court. And Fultz knows his worth.

“I think I’m just going to continue to get better every game, but my main focus is just making winning plays, man,” Fultz continued. “I think a lot of people get caught up on him shooting, and he’s not doing this, that, and third, but I know I impact the game in many different ways, whether that’s defensive, whether that’s, you know, cheering my teammates on whether that’s, you know, just diving on the floor for a loose ball. I’m just going to go out there and be a winning player, man, and contribute to winning and try to help my team win it in any way possible.”

Other names to watch for the Magic to move at the deadline are Jalen Suggs or even Gary Harris. The Magic should be busy on the phones come Thursday around 3 PM E.T. They have one realistic trade target for them to acquire as well.
