MLB Betting Picks of the Day 8/16

Tuesday night in the league turned out to be another night belonging to dominant starting pitching. Toronto Blue JaysYusei Kikuchi, Atlanta Braves’ Bryce Elder, and the tandem of Jakob Junis and Sean Manaea for the San Fransisco Giants all turned in dominant performances to help their teams to victory last night. Not to be forgotten about: Cleveland GuardiansLogan Allen, St. Louis CardinalsDakota Hudson, and Los Angeles DodgersBobby Miller all provide quality starts in wins for their clubs.

Another full day of baseball awaits us on Wednesday and LWOS has three MLB betting picks for today’s action. Don’t forget to tail and BOL!

TAMPA BAY RAYS VS. SAN FRANSISCO GIANTS: ESTRADA o1.5 H+R+RBI (+115)

San Fransisco Giants’ Thairo Estrada has been scorching hot on their current homestand with hits in four of their five games, including three multi-hit efforts. Last night, he launched his 10th hit of the season in the Giants win. He’ll get to face Tampa Bay Rays’ starter Aaron Civale who he has already has succes against in two at-bats, launching a three-run home run.

Since the south Florida side acquired Civale at the trade deadline, he has struggled, recording a 0-1 record with a 4.82 ERA in 9.1 innings. In his one start against the Giants, Civale only went four innings and gave up three earned runs.

Estrada hits better at home (.282 v .268) and during the day (.336 v .226) for this season. The over for Estrada’s H+R+RBI has hit in four straight games since the start of his hitting streak. There is also value in his total bases prop (o0.5, -170) and his hit total (o0.5, -170).

SEATTLE MARINERS VS. KANSAS CITY ROYALS: CASTILLO o6.5K (+125)

The Seattle Mariners was just able to squeeze by the pesky Kansas City Royals in a 10-8 extra-inning win. On Monday night, they lost in a heart-breaking 7-6 walk-off. They’ll be relieved it is their ace Luis Castillo’s turn on the bump tonight.

He has been dealing recently: 3-1, 3.35 ERA, 49:8 KK: BB, and a 0.95 WHIP in his last seven games. Castillo hasn’t seen this year’s Royals team, but in seasons past, he has a 3.74 ERA in 21.1 IP to go along with 19 strikeouts.

The Royals currently sit in the league’s bottom half in team batting average vs. RHP this season and in the bottom five for runs scored vs. RHP.

Castillo’s strikeout prop has hit the over in four of his last five starts and has shot for almost 50% of the time in his career. Take the value on Castillo strikeouts at +120.

LOS ANGELES ANGELS VS. TEXAS RANGERS: RANGERS RL (-1.5, +114)

The Texas Rangers might be one of the hottest teams in the AL and look like one of the favorites to represent their league in the fall classic. They have only lost two games in August and have the lead in the AL West by 3.5 games. Texas is now on track for a 105-win season, and they have the best run differential in the AL (+197) and are second in the whole league to only the Atlanta Braves (+206).

The Los Angeles Angels have been scuffling, going 3-7 in their last ten games and 3-11 in August. The Rangers have outscored them 67-41 this year, and their run differential is -20 for the whole season.

Rangers’ starting pitcher Jon Gray has gone 2-0 against the Angels in his career and is coming off a 7-inning shutout performance against the Giants. Take the value pick of one of the hottest teams in baseball tonight.
