Los Angeles Angels Add Dylan Bundy
The Los Angeles Angels acquired Dylan Bundy from the Baltimore Orioles for four pitching prospects. Bundy who is 26 years old will make 5.7 million dollars this season and will be eligible for arbitration in 2021. Bundy will be an unrestricted free agent in 2022.
Bundy’s Career
Dylan Bundy has pitched four full seasons with the Orioles with the last two historically bad for the franchise. Bundy’s career record is 38-45 with a 4.67 ERA and a 1.330 WHIP. In 614 innings Bundy struck out 602 batters. However, when the Orioles did have good teams in 2016-17 Bundy went 23-15. The latter two seasons Bundy’s record reversed to 15-30.
Leaving Baltimore should feel like getting out of prison. The Orioles are not showing any desire to field a competitive team. The salary dump trade of Jonathan Villar to the Miami Marlins of all teams indicates just that. Even more of an indication is that not one of the four prospects the Orioles received were considered top prospects in the Angels farm system.

The Angels are coming dangerously close to wasting the prime of superstar centerfielder Mike Trout‘s career. The last time the Angels made the playoffs was the 2014 season. 2015 was the last time the Angels finished over .500.
2019 was a season the Angels would just like to forget. Aside from the fourth-place finish the Angels also tragically lost starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs. The injury bug once again hit the Angels hard. A once-promising season slipped away well before September came around.
Bundy will slot in the rotation right behind Andrew Heaney as the number two starter. Griffin Canning and Patrick Sandoval are both expected to be in the rotation. Assuming he makes a full recovery from Tommy John surgery, Shohei Ohtani will also be in the rotation.
There is also the big fish the Angels are seeking. Southern Californian native Gerrit Cole is on the top of the Angels wish lost along with several other teams. Cole would be a true game-changing acquisition. Bundy will be counted on as a key piece in the Angels quest for the playoffs. Angel fans are just hoping there is more to come.
