Aaron Hicks To Have Tommy John Surgery
New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks is scheduled to have Tommy John surgery on October 30th. The expected recovery time for Hicks is eight to ten months. This injury could keep Hicks out for the majority of the 2020 season

Hicks Outlook
Hicks signed a seven-year contract for 70 million dollars just prior to the 2019 season. Clearly he is part of the Yankees future. After a 2018 season where Hicks had a career-high 27 HR and 79 RBI with gold glove quality defense the Yankees rewarded the talented player. Now the 29-year-old Hicks might lose a whole season as he rehabs from this injury.
Hicks has been dealing with this injury since August 3rd. He played through the injury but on September 10th the Yankees shut him down for the rest of the season including the playoffs.
Playoff Hero
Somehow Hicks showed enough improvement to be added to the Yankees ALCS roster. With the Yankees offense struggling, Hicks was inserted back into the starting lineup. In Game 5 with the Yankees trailing the Houston Astros three games to one Hicks hit a three-run HR off Justin Verlander. The first inning HR gave the Yankees a 4-1 lead. The Yankees won that game to force a Game 6 which the Yankees eventually lost and ended their season.
Yankees Outlook
Dealing with injuries was no stranger to the Yankees this season. The Yankees played large portions of the season without key outfielders such as Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and even Hicks. Several players stepped up and became reliable and perhaps essential to the Yankees’ future. The Yankees were able to fill these holes from within.
The Yankees enter this offseason having once again failing to win the World Series. As always the Yankees will make changes to their roster. The injury to Hicks could have a domino effect on the Yankees offseason plans.
Outfielder Brett Gardner who is a free agent might have to be brought back because of the Hicks injury. Mike Tauchman was a nice surprise and he could be the replacement for Hicks. Or perhaps the Yankees will bring in a free agent to replace Hicks. Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman already has to fill holes this offseason. Losing Hicks just makes another one.
