This season with the Rays, Eovaldi is 3-4 with a 4.26 ERA, 53 strikeouts to eight walks, and a 0.98 WHIP. For his career, the RHP has a 4.22 ERA, with 592 strikeouts to 247 walks and a WHIP of 1.35. Eovaldi owns the American League’s third-highest strikeout-to-walk ratio (6.63) behind Corey Kluber (7.44) and Justin Verlander (7.04). He has limited right-handed hitters performance at the plate, limiting them to a .207 batting average. Eovaldi’s best season was in 2015 when he played with the New York Yankees, where he was 14-3, with a 4.20 ERA and 1.45 WHIP.

Jalen Beeks is playing for the Triple-A Pawtucket squad this season. In the minors, Beeks is 5-5 with a 2.89 ERA,  1.09 WHIP and a .215 opponent batting average. For a team building for the future, the Rays will most likely use Beeks as a starter or bring him in from the bullpen to be a multi-inning reliever.

The Boston Red Sox pitching is stacked and it is going to get even deeper with the addition of Eovaldi. Chris Sale has 11 wins and leads the American League in ERA with 2.13, destined to earn a Cy Young award. However, with Eduardo Rodriguez and Steven Wright on the DL with injuries, expect Eovaldi to make an immediate impact in the starting rotation for the team, which is expected to be a threat when the postseason arrives.
