Phillies Rumors: Lane Thomas, Seiya Suzuki, Starling Marte, and More

The Philadelphia Phillies rumors are getting hotter by the day, with multiple players emerging as top suitors. Philadelphia is believed to be one of those aggressive teams as the trade deadline approaches. Injuries have pushed the team to look for trade opportunities, and there’s no better time to upgrade the roster.

Phillies Rumors: Lane Thomas, Seiya Suzuki, Starling Marte, and More

Nationals’ Lane Thomas erupts after bizarre ejection in loss to Tigers ...

The Phillies are linked to Jo Adell, Michael Wacha, and Matt Chapman, and are even urged to deal for Mike Trout. The club needs pitching more than anything, but they have also kept an eye on some of the available sluggers. An outfielder is what the front office is looking at, and it turns out that they have a pretty decent list.

Latest Phillies Rumors Link Several Players to the Team

The Phillies’ President of Baseball Operations, Dave Dombrowski, is known to pick his targets wisely. While some targets were a miss, like Adolis Garcia, Dombrowski is aware that he has one last chance to build an October-ready roster. Here’s a list of outfielders linked to the team.

Lane Thomas

The Kansas City Royals are having a disastrous season. Let’s face it, they don’t have a chance of making the playoffs, which makes them one of the sellers at the trade deadline. Lane Thomas will be an intriguing candidate for the Phillies. He’s played in all three outfield positions and is slashing .240 with nine home runs.

Thomas’ numbers are not too great, but his contract runs through 2026 at $5.25 million. The veteran will be easy on the pocket for Philadelphia.

Seiya Suzuki

The Phillies rumors are also pointing towards the Chicago Cubs star, Seiya Suzuki. If the franchise manages to pull off a deal with the Cubs for Suzuki, he will be one of their best options. Suzuki is slashing .270 with 17 home runs. There’s no doubt that the right fielder will be a great fit in Philly.

The issue with Suzuki is that he will be more expensive. Yet, Dombrowski can work his way through. Suzuki signed a five-year, $85 million contract through 2026.

Starling Marte

Another easy on-the-pocket option from the Royals will be Starling Marte. At age 37, it might seem to be a tough call, but Marte has several perks. Marte’s elite base running and veteran leadership will be an advantage for the Phillies. Moreover, he signed a $1 million contract with the Royals through 2026.

Marte would be an easy option, but it’s a bit of a risk that the Phillies must be willing to take. In 45 games, Marte has slashed .270 with one home run.

Taylor Ward

The Baltimore Orioles have been rumored to part ways with Taylor Ward for a long time. Now that the Phillies rumors are turning towards him, the chances of Ward finding a new home at the trade deadline seem possible.

Ward signed a one-year contract that’s worth $12.18 million through the 2026 season. He’s slashing .252 with seven home runs. Ward is one of the other options for the Phillies to consider, along with the other players.

The Phillies are expected to add another starter since they have only four pitchers in their rotation. They might call up Brian Keller to ease the burden and also seek some bullpen help. Either way, the Phillies are ready to make a move by the trade deadline.
