The Dodgers will get Emmet Sheehan back in the rotation after one more rehab start.

Reinforcements are Imminent for Dodgers Starting Rotation

Los  Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had good news today. He said that Emmet Sheehan would join the starting rotation after one more tune-up at Triple-A Oklahoma before being recalled, reports Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times. The right-hander has been nothing short of spectacular since returning from Tommy John surgery in 2023.

Emmet Sheehan to Join Dodgers Rotation Following Rehab Start

Curious Demotion

Sheehan made his season debut against the San Diego Padres during the last home stand, allowing just one earned run over four innings, while striking out six and walking none. It was a wonderful lift for a rotation needing effective starters. Needless to say a few eyebrows were raised when the right-hander was immediately optioned for a fresh face. However, Roberts explained that they wanted to build Sheehan up to at least five innings before returning to the Dodgers.

Blooming Where He’s Planted

As if to prove his worth, the right-hander continued to impress. He hurled six perfect innings, including 13 strikeouts and 21 whiffs. Wherever the Dodgers put him, Sheehan and his stuff shine, and he is forcing Los Angeles’s hand.

Trying to Round Into Form

Another starter on the road back is right-hander Tyler Glasnow. He pitched in his second rehab start last night after recovering from a shoulder issue. It wasn’t as successful as his first. Ideally, he was supposed to go four innings but didn’t get through three. The left-hander gave up five runs on seven hits. Roberts said his stuff “was fine, but he wasn’t efficient enough.” It doesn’t sound like the Dodgers are too concerned, but now Glasnow will have four rehab starts instead of three.

Everybody’s Getting Healthy

Tommy Edman, who has dealing with a gimpy ankle, is now well enough now to play center field. The Dodgers were playing Edman solely at second base. This only adds to the versatility of an already lethal lineup, and more playing time for Hyeseong Kim, who has a batting average of over .350.

It seems the Dodgers are finally getting healthy. Now, if they can only keep it that way.
