Edman, Teoscar Set to Return Next Week for Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers are finally getting some good news on the injury front, as Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernández are scheduled to return to the club early next week, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Manager Dave Roberts said Edman, who is nursing an injured ankle, will be back with the Dodgers on Sunday. Hernández, meanwhile, will go on a rehab assignment to test his strained abductor before returning Monday.

Edman, who hurt his ankle running the bases during the last homestand, was originally listed as day-to-day before he was placed on the injured list, and has missed more than two weeks. Since his arrival at the trade deadline last year, Edman has proven himself to be an integral part of the team. He is currently hitting for a .252 batting average with eight home runs and 24 runs batted in. It is fair to say that the Dodgers have missed his offensive production.

Mr. Clutch

Teoscar Hernández injured his abductor running after a ball in Miami. These injuries often heal slowly. However, the Dodgers seem to have gotten ahead of it before it worsened. Hernández has only missed two weeks, whereas the typical absence is a month or more.

But the Dodgers have certainly missed their “butter and egg man.” Before being sidelined, Hernández was off to a career year, leading the league in RBI and near the top in home runs. James Outman, his replacement, has two home runs but is hitting close to .100. The Dodgers can’t wait to have their cleanup man back in the mix on an everyday basis.

In Other News…

Los Angeles has called up reliever Ryan Loutos as a fresh arm. The reliever was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for cash considerations a few weeks ago. Justin Wrobleski was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Amid the flurry of activity, the Dodgers have to be happy with the reinforcement of regulars.
