Spencer’s Best Bets for Baseball: July 6th

Best Bets

An incredible start to the Best Bets series! Eduardo Rodriguez was shelled for five runs over four innings pitched, in a 12-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics. However, he gets the job done for us with seven Ks. The matchup between the Atlanta Braves and the Cleveland Guardians, went exactly as predicted. Cal Quantrill got blown up early by the Braves’ stellar lineup, and his team never really stood a chance. In this game, Sean Murphy proved why he is heading to Seattle in a few days to represent the National League in the All-Star game. Going 4 for 5, including a home run, with two RBI, and crossing the dish three times himself.

On to today’s Best Bets!

Orioles @ Yankees

Our first selection takes us to the Bronx where the New York Yankees host the Baltimore Orioles for the final game of a four-game series. The home team has taken the first two games, but the birds from Baltimore fought back to secure a win last night, gaining back some momentum. Tonight’s matchup is all about pitching. Kyle Bradish takes the mound for the Orioles, where so far this season, he has performed admirably. Owning a 4-4 record, with a 3.58 ERA and 74:21 K:BB, through 78 innings pitched. Meanwhile, the Yankees will be rolling out Luis Severino, who, albeit in a smaller sample size, has stunk. Owning a 1-3 record, with a 6.30 ERA and 34:18 K:BB, through 40 Innings Pitched.

Additionally, Bradish is backed by a red-hot lineup of youngsters eager to prove themselves. Headlined by rookies Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson, and recent call-ups Jordan Westburg and Colton Cowser. The Orioles will look to jump on Severino and the Yankees early in this one.

The Pick: Orioles F5 ML (-125) 1U

The Fun Pick: Ryan O’Hearn 1+ RBI (+130) .5U

Cardinals @ Marlins

In the second matchup for today, the surging Miami Marlins host the floundering St. Louis Cardinals. This series so far has been all Marlins, taking the first three games by a combined 30-15. Although last nights game was much closer. The Marlins needed all nine innings to complete the comeback, taking home the walk-off win on a throwing error from pitcher Jordan Hicks. Unfortunately, the Cards are likely in for more disappointment from their pitching staff this evening.

Jack Flaherty will take on the task of preventing the sweep in the finale of this series. However, with a 4.60 ERA, 1.56 WHIP, and a 5-5 record, things are looking good for the Marlins. A lineup that owns a stunningly low K rate of 20.7%, and boasts the best pure hitter in baseball with Luis Arraez. Flaherty likely struggles tonight.

The Pick: Jack Flaherty Under 5.5 Ks 1U

Additional Fun Picks:

Corbin Caroll 1+ Stolen Base .25U

Over 0.5 Runs 1st Inning Pirates @ Dodgers .25U
