Dodgers Visit White House

The 2020 World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers visited the White House on Friday. The Dodgers are in Washington D.C. to take on the Washington Nationals. Thursday’s series opener began but was halted in the fifth inning due to thunderstorms with the Dodgers leading 6-2. Vice President Kamala Harris visited the Dodgers clubhouse during Thursday’s game. The team presented the lifelong Dodgers fan with a jersey during her visit. The Vice President was also in attendance Friday at the White House for the Dodgers visit. The Dodgers continued the series Friday night with Julio Urias facing off against Nationals ace Max Scherzer. The Dodgers won the game, their seventh in a row, 10-5. Dodgers players from the 2020 team took time off to be honored at the White House in between the first two games.

Dodgers May Revisit White House

President Joe Biden welcomed the 2020 champions to the White House and said, “I think we may be doing this again by the end of the year,” thus hinting that the Dodgers may visit the White House for the club’s second time in two years. Dodgers players posed for a photo behind a kneeling President Biden and alongside a standing Vice President Harris. The players also took their own photos in and around the White House. Many of the photos are on social media. Most of the players were wearing suits. But the outfit of the season award must go to Joe Kelly, who wore a mariachi jacket. Kelly recently traded a jersey to a fan for the jacket.

The Dodgers swept the Milwaukee Brewers in the best-of-three wild card series to begin the 2020 playoffs. Then the Dodgers swept the San Diego Padres in three games of the NLDS. The NLCS proved to be more difficult than either the wild card or the NLDS. The Atlanta Braves forced a game seven with the Dodgers, but the Dodgers prevailed by a one-run margin. The Dodgers then won the 2020 World Series in six games over the Tampa Bay Rays to win their first World Series title since 1988. The World Series MVP trophy went to shortstop Corey Seager.
