Joey Gallo Trade Rumors

Joey Gallo Trade

Trade rumors are a big part of the game of baseball. If you’re a player, they can also be a very unsettling part of the game at times. Perhaps you’re one of the guys that is well known to your team’s fan base. If this is the case, rumors are going to surround you no matter what type of season you’re having. On the flip-side, if you’re a player who is struggling in such a way that your team may decide that a change of scenery is in order, then rumors will fly in that case as well. One guy that has been the subject of a lot of trade talk is Texas Rangers outfielder Joey Gallo. He has been thought to be on the trading block all season. Let’s take a look at some of the Joey Gallo trade rumors.

Pinstripe Possibility

Throughout the month of May, there was a lot of talk that Gallo could possibly go to the New York Yankees in a trade. There was speculation that the Bronx Bombers were looking to add another outfielder and left-handed bat to their lineup. That line of thought, however, never materialized. It is not known if the two clubs were even in contact regarding a potential deal for Gallo. They did manage to come to an agreement to send second baseman Rougned Odor to New York. In 36 games with the Yankees this year, Odor is hitting .185 with five home runs, 13 RBI, and 13 runs scored. He has 22 hits since the trade. Perhaps Gallo could have the same fate as Odor, and be dealt to the Yankees. Only time will tell. There is bound to be plenty more Joey Gallo trade rumors in 2021.

Playing the Game

This year, Joey Gallo has a batting average of .210 with 11 home runs, 27 RBI, and 32 runs scored. He is still trying to find his swing out there, and when you’re the center of all of this trade buzz, that cannot be very easy. He has made it very well known that he is a Texas Ranger until he is told otherwise. However, doing that while everyone around you is talking about you leaving takes a lot of skill. He will worry about being traded when, and if it happens. He may not be having the greatest year at the plate, but he is still a very good ballplayer. Even if he’s not putting up Gallo type numbers, teams are still going to find value in him. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens in the next round of Gallo trade rumors.

Injury Report

The Rangers were dealt another blow to their bullpen on Tuesday when they placed closer Ian Kennedy on the 10-day injured list. The diagnosis was a mild left hamstring strain. He is eligible to return to the roster on 16th at the earliest. In 21 relief appearances this year, Kennedy leads the Rangers with 12 saves in 13 chances. To take his place, right-hander Spencer Patton has been called up from Triple-A Round Rock. This year, Patton is 2-0 with four saves over 11 appearances with Round Rock. In that time, he has thrown 12 scoreless innings with 12 strikeouts and six walks.
