This season was the first season in which Darvish saw his loss total in double digits. Before 2017, Darvish had nine losses in both his 2012 and 2013 campaigns. He also saw his win total drop to 10 wins. The 2017 season marked the first time that he had a losing season in the MLB.

Darvish underwent Tommy John surgery back in 2015. Since undergoing surgery, Darvish has a record of 17-17, with a 3.64 ERA, in 287 innings pitched, and 341 strikeouts in 48 starts.

Darvish has spent five seasons in the majors and seven seasons in NPB (Nippon Professional Baseball). He spent four and a half seasons with the Rangers and spent the last half of the 2017 season with the Dodgers.

The righty starter has also made six postseason starts, has a record of 2-4, recorded an ERA of 5.81, struck out 25 batters, and threw 26.1 innings pitched. In the 2017 postseason, Darvish went 2-2, had an ERA of 6.14, threw 14.2 innings pitched, and struck out 14 in four starts.

Darvish is a four-time All-Star, making the team in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2017. He was also the American League strikeout leader in 2013, when he had 277 strikeouts. He also spent seven seasons with NPB (the highest level of baseball in Japan). Darvish started 164 games, was 93-38, had an ERA of 1.99, threw 55 complete games (18 shutouts), pitched 1268.1 innings, and had 1,250 strikeouts.

With Darvish undergoing Tommy John surgery back in 2015, you can expect similar numbers that he put up in the 2016 and 2017 seasons for his future, since Tommy John surgery usually affect a player’s future.
