Sports. Honestly. Since 2011

Michael Conforto will Shine in 2018

By now, it shouldn’t shock anyone to hear that first-time All-Star Michael Conforto has had quite a productive season for the New York Mets. With his first All-Star game now on his list of accomplishments, the 24-year-old outfielder will look to impress next season. Following an already nice 2017 for the young athlete, 2018 looks bright and promising for the budding superstar.

Michael Conforto will Shine in 2018

The former Oregon State Beaver is headed to the top of a few lists. Conforto is in his prime and has drawn comparisons to crosstown rival Aaron Judge. While Judge is cooling off, Conforto looks primed for a breakout year in 2018. An outfield built around Conforto is a promising one that will not disappoint. While every hitter goes through the occasional slump, Conforto is not nearly as upsetting as Judge, and has proven to win that decision if compared.

Conforto can hit for power and is an overall solid outfielder. With 26 home runs and 65 RBI on the season, he has showed the Mets good times at the plate. He is capable of doing damage to opposing pitchers and teams with one swing. He’ll put up career numbers in 2018, and he should be backed by a stronger and healthier squad. That will take some of the pressure off of him, as he’ll no longer have to carry the team on his own. His numbers this season so far are great, and he should have better numbers if the Mets can get themselves back in a New York Groove. The way the team plays can affect a player’s individual stats, and this Mets team has not had a very good season.

Fan Favorite

With youth definitely on Conforto’s side, fans already adore “the Kid”. He’s positive guy on and off the field who can impress in the stats columns. Cxpect many more All-Star appearances in this young man’s future. He has been a bright light for the Mets in these very dark days, which has been needed. It’s been hard for him to really stand out amidst all the negatives. In bad times, it is important to notice whatever good remains. Conforto is the real deal, and the Mets should hold onto him.

The 2018 season should be better. This season is certainly one to forget, in most respects. Expect bright things from today’s youth, including Amed Rosario, Dominic Smith, and Conforto. The Mets aare currently trying to get younger and healthier across the board, as evidenced by recent trades. This may take time, and while leadership is vital and essential, the youth movement is equally as important. Conforto can lead the younger guys and show them how to win in New York.

The 2018 Mets could feature a fresh new look that could bring them back into contention. Rome was not built in a day, but the Mets will be looking to travel the road that will get them back to where every team looks to be. Injuries took a toll on the team, and rebuilding will be a process. Yet, there will certainly be smiles looking down on the youngsters, like Conforto, who will spearhead that process.
