Ohio State stays at the top of our rankings, with the JT Barrett news making next week a potential tough game against Minnesota. Five different teams received a first-place vote, though, as Baylor’s support slipped a little. We still haven’t seen what they can do without Seth Russell, nor have we seen what they can do against quality competition. Things pick up a tiny bit against Kansas State this Thursday night, but it will be the next week against Oklahoma that really gives us a good reading on the Bears.

Dropped out: Duke (19), Pitt (25)
The SEC and Big Ten still lead the way with five ranked teams each. The Big Ten put three teams in the Top 10 while the SEC just missed out on matching that, with Florida coming in at #11. The Big XII has four teams ranked this week, though USC is coming close to the rankings as they are rounding into post-Sarkisian form. The Pac 12, who at one point put the most teams into our rankings, is down to just three ranked teams as the conference continues to beat up on itself.
The ACC is also down to three ranked teams, as North Carolina took Pitt’s place in the Top 25 after their win on Thursday night. Duke also dropped out after their miracle loss that probably wasn’t really a loss if we’re being honest with ourselves. Some voters considered leaving them in as if they didn’t lose, and it will be very interesting to see how the Playoff selection committee treats this game.
The AAC also put three teams into the rankings, with Temple staying in after a very close game against Notre Dame. Independent Notre Dame and Toledo from the MAC wrap up the last teams in our Top 25.
