LA Galaxy Sign Goalkeeper David Bingham

Bingham joins the Galaxy after spending the last seven seasons with the San Jose Earthquakes (his entire professional career). He had been the starter the past three seasons but fell out of favor with the organization mid-season. It was clear going into the 2018 season that he would not be starting. San Jose looked to move on and the Galaxy were in desperate need of starting goalkeeping.

“David is a reliable option for us in goal and we’re excited to add him to the roster. He brings a wealth of MLS experience and we believe he is a player that will be part of our success in 2018,” said LA Galaxy Head Coach Sigi Schmid.

Bingham joined MLS in 2011 as a Generation Adidas player through the 2011 MLS SuperDraft. He was a dark horse candidate for the Goalkeeper of the Year award a few years ago. A change of scenary and reuniting with Assistant Coach Dominic Kinnear, who was Bingham’s Head Coach in San Jose. This could be what brings Bingham back as one of the better keepers in the league.

Internationally, Bingham has three appearances with the United States Men’s National Team at the senior level. He was called up for the first time in 2016. The 28-year-old joins a revamped defense including Jorgen Skjelvik, Rolf Feltscher, and re-signed Ashley Cole.
