Former LA Galaxy II assistant Rob Becerra will join him as well as goalkeeper coach Daniel Gonzalez. Former Seattle Sounders assistant coach Ante Razov will also join Onalfo’s staff. The Galaxy have also announced that Academy Director Mike Muñoz will take over as head coach of LA Galaxy II.

These appointments were made after former LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena brought Pat Noonan, Kenny Arena, and Matt Reis with him to the U.S. Men’s National Team.

“We are excited to add Ante, Rob and Daniel to our coaching staff,” said Onalfo, adding “all three will provide valuable experience and insight that will help improve our players in their development on and off the field. I am confident in the staff we have put together and look forward to continuing to prepare for the 2017 season.”

Becerra and Gonzalez have been with Onalfo at Los Dos since it’s inception in 2014. Prior to that, Becerra coached at the college level, most recently at Stanford University from 2006-2013. At Redlands University, he had a record of 126-28-8 as a head coach.

Razov played professionally from 1996-2009 and was a member of the USMNT. He made 262 MLS appearances, netting 114 goals, good for 5th all time. He made 25 appearances for the senior USMNT, scoring six goals. He has been an assistant coach with the Sounders since January 2015 and was a part of their MLS Cup Championship last year.

Muñoz is 33 years old and has coached at the LA Galaxy Academy on several levels. The former Galaxy midfielder retired professionally in 2009. He has been on staff with the academy since 2013. Prior to that, he has coached with the Real Salt Lake and Chivas USA academies. He has also coached with the USMNT. He won the U.S. Development Academy U-16 Coach of the Year award for the 2010-11 season.

“He has been an instrumental part in making our Academy the best in this country and has a proven track record as a coach. His knowledge of this club and our players across LA Galaxy II and our Academy make him an excellent choice to lead this team,” said General Manager Peter Vagenas.

“I have an enormous amount of respect and gratitude for this club. We have a very young and talented roster that will continue to grow and develop as professionals that can ultimate benefit the LA Galaxy as they pursue more MLS Cups,” Muñoz said about his appointment.

The full USL schedule will be announced at a later date. The Galaxy begin their regular season on March 4 against FC Dallas.
