#AndNEW: Rhea Ripley Becomes RAW Women’s Champion at WrestleMania

Rhea Ripley Asuka WrestleMania

On night two of WrestleMania 37, Rhea Ripley was indeed ready for Asuka. The twenty-four year old stormed the main roster in late March and immediately set her sights on the Empress of Tomorrow. This set up their clash on the Grandest Stage of Them All. Played out by Ash Costello, Ripley was ready to seize the opportunity before her, walking out victorious and NEW WWE RAW Women’s Champion!

The showdown between Asuka and Rhea Ripley showcased the unique skill sets of both participants. Armed with experience, Asuka focused on submissions and grounded wrestling to keep her imposing foe in check. Meanwhile, Ripley’s strength and dominance were in full force. This was a hard-hitting affair that tested the mettle of said participants. The match came to a conclusion when Ripley planted Asuka with The Riptide for the three-count. On this night, Ripley emerged victorious with the RAW Women’s Title in her possession.

Ripley also made history with her win at WrestleMania. She becomes the first Superstar to have held the NXT, NXT UK, and a main roster women’s championship. Following a documented struggle for her identity and confidence after her loss to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 36, this victory cemented Ripley’s resurgence. In another historical note, Ripley becomes only the second-ever woman to win a title in her first main roster match, following in the footsteps of Paige in 2014. With her brutality back at full force, Rhea Ripley goes into the WrestleMania history book as the winner and new WWE RAW Women’s Champion!
