Wednesday night’s NXT card is packed to the top, as the NXT Cruiserweight Champion, NXT Women’s Champion, and NXT North American Champion are all in action while Adam Cole answers all the major questions. Here’s the full preview for the NXT card tonight.
Santos Escobar vs. Karrion Kross in a No Disqualification match
William Regal has done everything in his power to make this match a reality. After Santos Escobar bailed last week, Regal brought the hammer to make sure it happens this week. If Escobar bails again, he will be stripped of his championship and suspended. And to make it worse, the match will now be no DQ. Something that is right up the alley of Karrion Kross. Kross has put down the threat and has made clear “doomsday” is near for the NXT Cruiserweight Champion.
Adam Cole finally speaks
Adam Cole forced his friend Kyle O’Reilly to leave last week’s NXT on a stretcher. That is the ultimate sign that The Undisputed Era as we know it is over. But for the first time since he pulled the events he did at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day, Cole will speak to the masses. It’s going to be a must-see affair as Cole should have plenty to say after putting a target on O’Reilly and the NXT Champion, Finn Balor.
Io Shirai vs. Zoey Stark
Believe it or not, this will be Io Shirai‘s first match on NXT TV since Nov. 18. It’s been a long time since “The Joshi Judas” competed on her own show, but this one should be special. She faces fresh face, Zoey Stark, who had a fantastic NXT debut one week ago. Shirai should walk out as the winner, but Stark has all the potential to pull off the major upset. Don’t forget that Toni Storm is not yet done with Shirai either.
Johnny Gargano vs. Dexter Lumis
Johnny Gargano found Austin Theory last week in the van of Dexter Lumis. The good news is that he seemed unharmed. The bad news is that Gargano will now face the resident psychopath of NXT. A win for Lumis would set him up for an NXT North American Championship opportunity, which may be his goal after all. The Way may not be enough help for Gargano.
Kacy Catanzaro vs. Xia Li
Oh, Kacy Catanzaro is in big trouble. Since returning as a member of Tian Sha and following the leadership of its presumptuous leader Mei Ling, Xia Li has been an absolute killer inside the ring. A match with Catanzaro was actually her last before going away to learn the way of Tian Sha, so this has been a long time coming. The longest match since her return has been a minute and 28 seconds, while the shortest was 24 seconds. Li is not messing around and Catanzaro is in big trouble come Wednesday night.
Killian Dain & Drake Maverick vs. The Grizzled Young Veterans
While this may look like a simple tag team match on paper, it has some big implications. Not only is it a chance to move up in the NXT tag team rankings, but it’s an important one for The Grizzled Young Veterans. They are now back-to-back Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic final losers, which isn’t something that should sit well with them. If you’re Killian Dain or Drake Maverick, it probably will not be an easy night.
